As part of an ongoing operation into organised crime, officers from the Organised Crime Unit in Dublin’s Harcourt Square seized the drugs at about 2am at the Old North Road in Dublin 11.

The drugs were discovered after the team stopped and searched a vehicle.

The two men, one in his early 60s and the other in his early 50s, were arrested at the scene. Both were last night being detained at Finglas Garda Station under the provisions of Section two of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act. They can be held for up to a week.

The last big heroin seizure in the capital was at the end of February when a quantity of the drug was found following a search operation at a house in Ballyfermot.
