Death of former TD Michael Begley

The death has occurred of former Fine Gael politician Michael Begley, who served as a TD for the Kerry South constituency from 1969 to 1989.

A native of Dingle, Mr Begley also served as a parliamentary secretary and junior minister. At various stages in his political career, he had specific responsibility for local government, the OPW, and tourism.

Mr Begley, who was 79, passed away at Dingle Community Hospital.
