Eucharia Chambers, aged 38, from Rockfield, Tralee Rd, Killarney, Co Kerry, is charged with taking over €20,000 from accounts at the Bank of Ireland branch at Watergate St, Kanturk, Co Cork, between Apr 15, 2009, and Nov 12, 2010.

Ms Chambers is said to have taken a total of €25,022.52 during that period. The largest amount of money taken from an account was €14,000 on May 5, 2010.

Ms Chambers appeared before a sitting of Mallow District Court yesterday, at which Judge Olann Kelleher was informed by Superintendent Pat McCarthy that gardaí had finalised the book of evidence.

Supt McCarthy said the DPP had stated that the case should be forwarded to the higher court.

He asked that Ms Chambers would appear before the current sitting of the Cork Circuit Criminal Court.

The superintendent said that gardaí had no objection to Ms Chambers getting bail.

Judge Kelleher said he would grant her bail in her own bond of €400 and directed that she should appear before Cork Circuit Criminal Court at 10.30am tomorrow.

Ms Chambers’ solicitor said that her client’s current income was the Jobseekers’ Allowance of €188 per week.

Judge Kelleher granted Ms Chambers free legal aid.
