The organisers of the Racing Home festival have revealed they will be providing awesome theatrics from Macnas, stunning fashion and hours of street entertainment from April 7-9.
The third annual festival will be the biggest to date and will feature three performances by the internationally renowned theatrical group Macnas, who will bring their current touring show Rumpus and a 20ft suspended hare to the streets of the town.
The town’s Main Street will be pedestrianised on the Easter Saturday to accommodate three music stages, a 36ft crocodile tunnel, carousel, bouncing castles and face painters.
On Easter Sunday, a food and craft fair will take over from St James’s Avenue to the Clock House, with demand for stalls exceeding all expectations. Families will be entertained on the day by Cork Circus performers, the mobile pet farm and the Rotary Club’s Ball Run in aid of local charities.
On the same day at the racecourse, TV3’s Xposé host Karen Koster will be on hand to judge the style on Ladies Day.
With almost €2,000 worth of prizes, including the top prize of a €1,000 voucher for Luna Bella Boutique, there has been massive interest in the event. Easter Monday sees the focus return to sport, with the return of the very popular 10km Family Fun Cycle at Mallow GAA club and point-to-point winners action at Cork Racecourse Mallow.
“We really want to get the message out there loud and clear that Mallow is the only place to be in Ireland this Easter. We have really pushed the boat this year, with something for everyone in the programme of events, from racing, food, fashion, culture, theatre and live music,” festival chairperson Mary Kelly said
