Disney series to be made in Ireland

An award-winning Irish studio has hired 50 skilled animators to help produce what’s being tipped as Disney’s next global cartoon smash hit.

Disney Europe’s London-based production hub announced yesterday it has commissioned Dublin’s BAFTA award-winning Boulder Media to work on a new action-packed animated comedy, Randy Cunningham: Ninth Grade Ninja.

Boulder, which was part of the team which won two children’s BAFTAs last November for co-producing the 3D live-action mix cartoon, The Amazing World of Gumball, will handle the 52 by 11-minute series from animation through to post-production.
