Two charged over attempted Longford robbery

Two men have been remanded in custody on charges relating to an attempted robbery at a business premises in Killoe, Co Longford, an incident during which a shot was fired.

Joseph Bates and Ray Ward, both from Dublin, were refused bail at Longford District Court and have been remanded in custody to appear again on Feb 28.

Mr Bates, aged 33, of 12b Boyne St, Dublin 2, and Mr Ward, aged 34, of 14 Colthurst Road, Huntingdon Glen, Lucan, Dublin, were charged with entering a building known as Gerry Kennedy Furniture on Feb 23 at Kilmoyle, Killoe, Longford, as a trespasser, with intent to commit theft contrary to Section 12 Criminal Justice Act 2001.
