Historic street set for €600k facelift

One of Cork’s most historic streets is poised to undergo a €600,000 revamp.

But city councillors have warned engineers overseeing the Barrack Street regeneration project they must get it right from the start, to ensure it breathes new life into the area.

Cllr Mick Finn (Ind) raised the issue at Monday’s city council meeting and called on city manager Tim Lucey to re-examine the revamp’s proposal to make the street one-way inbound.
