Ginola hurt in ski accident

Mr Ginola, 45, who made his name in England playing for Spurs and Newcastle United crashed into another skier in the Alpine resort of Portes du Mont Blanc.

The crash, which happened on Tuesday, was described as a “severe collision” which caused him “severe trauma”. He had to be removed from the mountain on a paramedic sledge.

While he sustained five broken ribs, a broken collarbone, and bruises all over his body and had to be taken to the local Sallanches Hospital, the other skier is thought to have suffered little injury.

Following his discharge a spokesman said Mr Ginola is in some pain after “a nasty fall, but he will be okay”.

As well as his soccer prowess, Mr Ginola, who had long hair for much of his career, was known to many in Britain and Ireland for L’Oreal shampoo commercials.

He lives with his wife and his two children in St Tropez. He had been due to play in a snow golf tournament near to the scene of the accident.
