Opposition backs campaign to withhold Anglo payment

Opposition TDs are backing a campaign to withhold payments going towards the bailout of Anglo Irish Bank.

The support for Anglo — Not Our Debt comes as the State prepares to hand over about €1.2 billion in a bondholder payment as part of the bailout for the bust bank tomorrow.

EU lenders have also warned the Government that reneging on the payment would lead to a financial “bomb” going off in Dublin.
