Gardaí praise row stoppers

Gardaí have praised people who saw a row being planned between groups of teenagers on Facebook and Twitter and alerted gardaí.

“Their actions prevented what had the potential to be a serious incident,” said Garda superintendent Jim Cannon, Laytown, County Meath.

One group of teenagers from Drogheda took a bus to Duleek in county Meath.

They were to meet another group and there was to be a confrontation, with around 75 involved.
