Fire warning over Beko fridge-freezer

OWNERS of a popular fridge-freezer are being urged to check its serial number to ensure it is not one of a large batch which could potentially burst into flames.

Manufacturers Beko said in a “very small number of incidents” it may be possible for the defrost timers in the frost-free fridge-freezers, manufactured between 2000 and 2006 to fail, overheat and cause a “potential fire hazard”.

Over 500,000 of the products have been sold, of which several thousand were purchased in Ireland.
