THE Health Service Executive has strongly rejected a claim by the Psychiatric Nurses Association that residents of St Finan’s Hospital in Killarney are being transferred to another facility against their wishes.

The HSE also said a union claim that some patients died prematurely after being moved to other locations had “no basis”.

Reports by the inspectorate of mental hospitals have criticised facilities at St Finan’s, including recommending its closure.
