THREE fisherman from West Cork had to be rescued from a life raft after their trawler sank in minutes off Glandore Harbour.

The Irish Coast Guard picked up a mayday signal from the Jeanette Roberta at about 2.25pm yesterday after it had sailed out from Union Hall pier.

This message was re-broadcast to other boats in the area to alert them to the distress call.
