Scholarship in honour of footballer

GAA clubs in west Kerry have come together to set up a scholarship to honour the memory of the Annascaul footballer Brendan “Bawnie” O’Driscoll, who died in October, aged 28.

The talented footballer collapsed during a match and died days later in Cork University Hospital of a suspected brain haemorrhage.

To fund the scholarship, a testimonial match in the late Mr O’Driscoll’s honour will be played in Dingle on December 30.
