AN OECD-led conference will today hear calls for a job creation tax credit which would generate employment by refunding a portion of new employees’ wage costs.

US employment research expert Dr Randall Eberts will tell Building Quality Jobs in the Recovery, a two-day conference being held in Dublin Castle, that the credit could refund 15% of taxable payroll in year one and 10% in year two to help grow new jobs in the economy.

The employment expert said this was one of the most effective new job creation methods used in America, creating hundreds of thousands of new positions during the 1970s recession.
