Body to manage Government’s semi-states’ stakes

THE Government has announced a new body to manage its shareholdings in semi-state companies and consider the sale of those stakes.

The body, NewEra, will also consider how the proceeds from any such sales should be used, with the emphasis to be placed on investment in energy, water and broadband.

NewEra will also develop a “strategic investment fund” with the aim of pumping further money into the economy to create jobs.
