Publicans laughing after Irish fans’ record-breaking night

PUBLICANS in New Plymouth have confirmed a record-breaking night after Ireland’s opening Rugby World Cup game.

Irish fans invaded the New Zealand city as they watched Declan Kidney’s side put in an uninspired performance against the US in Stadium Taranaki.

Sunday night turned out to be one huge party in the small North Island region, with one pub having to haul in two extra trailer-loads of beer.
