Bahrain frees Irish doctors

THREE Irish-trained doctors in Bahrain were among 12 medics released from jail last night.

The group, which had been on hunger strike for two weeks, were arrested during pro-democracy demonstrations in the Gulf state earlier this year.

Dr Ali Al Ekri, Dr Ghassan Daif and Dr Basim Daif studied at the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin.
