Japanese studies at UCC

UNIVERSITY College Cork is to set up the Irish Institute for Japanese Studies.

It is the first of its kind in the country and will form part of the School of Asian Studies, alongside the institutes of Chinese and of Korean Studies.

The aim of the institute is to develop research and teaching for the discipline of Japanese studies in Ireland, mainly in the arts, humanities and social sciences, and to enhance mutual understanding between Japan and Ireland.
