JUNIOR doctors recruited from India and Pakistan were led to believe there would be minimum delay in starting work here, yet most remain idle two months later and some are running out of funds.

In a letter seen by the Irish Examiner, candidates who successfully applied for the posts were urged by the HSE to “come to Ireland within the next two weeks, before July 11, 2011, or as soon as possible thereafter”.

They were told their clinical skills would be assessed “within 1-2 weeks of arrival before commencing the job and registration”.
