GARDA associations have again warned of the consequences of cutting officer numbers after a leaked internal Garda document predicted up to 7% of garda stations could be without a permanent garda due to voluntary redundancies.

An internal Garda report seen by Prime Time shows that, in a worst case scenario, 39 stations — or 6% of the 703 stations — won’t have a permanent sergeant.

In this situation, 51 stations (7%) won’t have a permanent garda.
