Lectures fight falling grades

FINDING the enjoyable side of maths is the aim of a free lecture for second level students, their teachers and parents on September 13 at University College Cork.

Des McHale, professor emeritus of maths at UCC, will deliver the talk to show that everyone can learn maths. Registration can be made at www.tosu.ie, the website of lecture sponsors Tosú, which offers classes in maths and science to make students more positive about the subjects.

The initiative is hosting lectures in response to concerns about falling maths and science grades.
