LEADING Irish food critics, restaurant chains and farming bodies have called on the Government to drop plans to ban the sale of raw milk due to safety concerns.

In a statement last night, the Campaign for Raw Milk Ireland (CRMI) said despite long-standing arguments put forward by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI), the ban should be blocked as it is “draconian” and not supported by the public.

The pressure group includes TV food aficionados Tom Doorley, Donal Skehan and Darina Allen, representatives of up-market restaurants L’Ecrivain and Chapter One, farmers and raw milk producers.
