Limerick row with Rose of Tralee committee intensifies

THE Mayor of Limerick, who launched a scathing attack on the Rose of Tralee festival committee earlier this week, yesterday warned the Tralee organisers they were undermining all future Limerick participation in the event.

Cllr Jim Long had called for a boycott of the TV coverage and demanded that Limerick, like Dublin and Cork, should have an automatic right to a rose finalist.

The Limerick Rose goes to a regional final and, since that system was introduced, there has been no Limerick Rose at the finals on four occasions.
