A COMMUNITY is in mourning following the deaths of two men in their 20s. They died when their car hit a tree.

The crash occurred just after 2am yesterday on the Rathoath to Dunshaughlin road, approximately 5km outside Dunshaughlin, Co Meath.

The car the men were travelling in collided with a tree, and the two, aged 20 and 21, were pronounced dead at the scene and their bodies were taken to Our Lady’s Hospital, Navan. Both men were from the Rathoath area.

Yesterday, friends of the dead men went to the scene and laid flowers by the tree the car hit. They also threw flowers as the wreckage was removed from the scene.

Gardaí carried out a detailed forensic examination at the scene before the road was re-opened to traffic.
