NURSES have urged Health Minister James Reilly to publicly affirm the high quality of patient care in Roscommon Hospital.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) has rejected the inference created by recent public comment that the hospital was in any way unsafe with regards to the nursing care received by all patients.

At a recent meeting of the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health and Children, Dr Reilly told Fine Gael’s Denis Naughten that the decision to close the hospital’s emergency department was all about safety.
