Just one applicant for position of district court judge

THERE is only one applicant for the position of Limerick District Court judge, following the promotion of Judge Tom O’Donnell as a circuit court judge, according to legal sources.

Judge O’Donnell earned acclaim for the huge volume of work he managed to deal with during his term at Limerick District Court.

Many district court judges, who at present have no designated district court area and move from area to area, have declined to put their names forward for the Limerick position due to the work load involved.
