Cleaning firm sales lodged into owner’s account

A FORMER accountant at a cleaning company notified the Revenue Commissioners of hundreds of thousands of euro in sales which were not being disclosed and were being lodged in the owner’s personal account.

This sparked an investigation which led to Barry McDonald, of McDonald Cleaning Services Ltd, Unit 9, Rockgrove Industrial Estate, Little Island, Co Cork, facing sentence yesterday at Cork Circuit Criminal Court.

McDonald later told tax investigators he was using the money to pay staff, some of whom were not on his books.
