IRELAND has the ninth worst employment rate in the EU and the second shortest working week for full-time employees.

Ireland has EU’s ninth worst employment rate

According to a Eurostat labour force survey for 2010, the total employment rate for people in the EU aged 20 to 64 was 68.6%.

Ireland’s employment rate is well below this at 64.9%, the eighth lowest figure amongst the 27 EU states. Britain has a much higher employment rate of 73.6%.
