STAFF at the controversial Rostrevor House Nursing Home, which was officially shut down by court order on Wednesday, are still owed €56,000 in unpaid wages and allowances.

SIPTU health sector organiser, Louise O’Reilly, said the money was due to be given to the 14 nurses, care assistants, kitchen assistants and cleaners during a meeting with the facility’s former owner, Sarah Lipsett, yesterday.

This was agreed in writing after a stand-off at the closed nursing home over the unpaid money on Tuesday evening.
