Firefighters and gardaí on alert for bonfire night

EMERGENCY services are on high alert ahead of the traditional bonfire night celebrations in Cork tonight.

Extra fire fighting crews will be on duty and will be backed up by garda patrols as they respond to dangerous dozens of bonfires expected to be lit across the city.

Cllr John Buttimer last night urged residents and businesses to act responsibly and not hand over material to people gathering materials for bonfire night.
