Mitchell portrays Cox as ‘blow-in’

MEP Gay Mitchell has poured scorn on the vote-getting ability of Pat Cox, seen as his main rival for the Fine Gael nomination to contest the presidency.

Despite expressing his wish for a clean campaign yesterday, Mr Mitchell launched a clear attack on Mr Cox’s political record as the battle for the nomination heated up.

In an effort to portray his rival as a “blow-in” whom Fine Gael would be best rejecting, Mr Mitchell pointed out that Mr Cox had switched political affiliations on several occasions.
