A MAJOR HSE campaign attempting to convince Ireland’s estimated one million smokers to quit launches on Monday.

The TV, radio and outdoor advertising bid has been organised by health service officials and a string of medical, financial and social support groups to stop the growing rate of smoking-related deaths.

About 5,500 Irish people die of smoking-related illnesses every year and one-in-two smokers will die from smoking-related illnesses.
