Aer Lingus action deferred after marathon LRC talks

FOR the rest of this month, passengers intending to fly with Aer Lingus should have some certainty over their travel plans as pilots have called off industrial action until at least July 1.

Aer Lingus action deferred after marathon LRC talks

Early yesterday, following 15 hours of talks between management and pilot representatives at the Labour Relations Commission, a deal was announced on peak summer period rostering.

A short time later the Irish Airline Pilots’ Association (IALPA) confirmed it was calling off industrial action due to start today.

That action, which pilots said they were taking because they were stretched by low staff numbers, would have seen 30,000 passengers face travel disruption daily.

Just hours before the action was due to begin, an IALPA spokesman said the industrial action had been suspended until July 1 “in order to allow time to implement agreed proposals on the summer rosters”.

Aer Lingus said any customers who have already changed bookings can change back to their original plan via aerlingus.com.
