International media coverage reflects ‘seismic shift’ in relations

FROM Angola to Los Angeles the visit of Queen Elizabeth has put Ireland in the international spotlight.

While much of the international coverage mentioned the threat from dissident republicans, it also was at pains to point out the historical significance of the visit.

Reuters, in particular, focused on the security around the visit, pointing out how the streets had been virtually cleared of onlookers so as to maintain the tightest security around the monarch.
