YESTERDAY’S articles in the Irish Examiner on Sierra Leone “Condemned to a life of struggle and poverty” were funded by the Simon Cumbers Media Fund.

The aim of the fund is to assist and promote more and better quality media coverage of development issues in the Irish media.

It was established by Irish Aid in 2005 in memory of the late Irish journalist and cameraman, Simon Cumbers.

The Simon Cumbers Media Fund is intended to facilitate coverage which presents a balanced and realistic picture of the challenges and the opportunities that developing countries face, and of progress achieved.
