SOME patients have been forced to cancel appointments at a Cork city hospital because of the tight security surrounding the Queen’s visit next week.

Staff at the Mercy University Hospital (MUH) yesterday began contacting people who are due to attend out-patient appointments next Friday, May 20 — the day the Queen arrives in the city — to outline the strict arrangements which will be in place in the area.

They said cars will be banned from the area and that people with appointments will have to walk to the hospital.
