Homeowners to get grants of up to €5,600

HOMEOWNERS will be able to draw down grants of up to €5,600 to make properties more energy-efficient as part of the Government’s jobs initiative.

Up to 2,000 jobs will be created and an expected 20,000 homes fitted with ‘greener’ appliances and works, Energy Minister Pat Rabbitte said yesterday.

One feature planned will see the country’s energy suppliers footing bills upfront for home works, where consumers pay for the upgrade costs later, through savings.
