Murder accused appears in court

THE state has strongly indicated that a book of evidence is ready to be served on a man accused of four murders in Co Limerick last November.

Murder accused appears in court

John Geary, aged 31, originally from Milford, Co Cork, but with an address at Meadow Court, Newcastle West, Co Limerick, was further remanded in custody to Cloverhill Prison to appear in court on June 7.

Superintendent Joe Roe told Judge Mary O’Halloran the DPP was working full-time on the case. He requested an adjournment of a month to which the defence solicitor consented.

Geary is accused of four murders in the Co Limerick town last November.

The charges relate to the deaths of his former partner, 25-year-old Sarah Hines, their five-month-old daughter Amy and Ms Hines’ three-year-old son Reece.

He is also charged with the murder of 20-year-old Alicia Brough at Hazelgrove, Gortboy, Newcastle West, Co Limerick, on November 15 last.

He appeared before Newcastle West District Court yesterday where the court heard the book of evidence was due to be served next month.
