IAN BAILEY has been given six weeks to file legal submissions in his appeal against his extradition to France, the Supreme Court heard.

The state will have another four weeks to reply to those submissions, which will mean it will be at least July before the appeal can be heard.

The case was mentioned briefly before Chief Justice John Murray yesterday when he gave directions for the filing of submissions from both sides. The state is opposing his appeal.
