Clonmel-based VisionID, a mobile computing and barcode technology company, has already added two engineers to its workforce of 16 following a deal with Cognex who are a global provider of Vision and AutoID Technology with a manufacturing plant in Cork.

Under the partnership deal, VisionID will become an Automation Solution Provider Partner of Cognex.

It is expected the new partnership will result in product sales in the region of €250,000 per annum.

The Cognex deal is the latest expansion for VisionID which already has a close working relationship with other leading technology providers including Motorola, Zebra, Honeywell and Intermec.

Established in 2000, VisionID specialises in track and trace systems which are widely used across the manufacturing, retail, healthcare and transport/logistics sectors.

Vision ID’s products include barcode scanners and label printers, fixed position scanners, hand held computers, touchscreen monitors and much more.

Its real-time technology is used, tried and trusted by big names such as Odlums, Dairygold, the Mater Hospital, Centocor, Renishaw and Clonmel Healthcare.

The latest deal will offer VisionID’s customers and new clients a wider range of products and solutions, managing director Robert Jones said.

“The Cognex product portfolio broadens the range of solutions we can provide to our customers. These products are aimed at the life sciences and food industries, to enable key security requirements such as track and trace and anti-counterfeiting measures.”

Leigh Jordan, UK and Ireland District Sales Manager with Cognex said the partnership is “a significant step forward” in driving new business applications across Ireland.
