2,000 on guest list for ceremony to mark royal visit

TWO thousand guests have been invited to celebrate Ireland’s links with Britain at a special ceremony during the British queen’s first official visit to Ireland.

Britain’s ambassador to Ireland Julian King is to host the so-called “return event” — an evening of fashion, music and theatre at the Dublin Convention Centre in the city’s docklands.

President Mary McAleese will be the guest of honour at the event on May 19.
