Fisherman’s body found floating near island slipway

THE body of a fisherman was recovered from the sea off Castletownbere in Co Cork just hours after he was reported missing.

The body of Oliver Cunningham, 43, from Killybegs in Co Donegal, was found floating near the Bere Island slipway by members of the Castletownbere lifeboat crew at about 1.30pm.

The body was removed to Cork University Hospital where a postmortem exam will take place to determine the exact cause of death.
