Cargo rotation delays ferry lift

HOPES that a cargo ship with two former Aran ferries would leave Galway harbour yesterday were dashed as the luckless project ran into further difficulties.

It was expected that the second of the ferries, Clan Eagle1, would be lifted onboard the Thor Gitta cargo ship. However, problems organising the port rotation of other cargo on board caused yet another delay.

According to Galway Harbourmaster, Captain Brian Sheridan, the Thor Gitta will not be ready for the seas until this evening at the earliest.
