CORK AIRPORT’S €100 million terminal, completed in 2006, was branded a waste of money by economist Colm McCarthy in his examination of state assets.

He also suggests the new Terminal Two (T2) in Dublin Airport is not needed for now but in the long run it might deliver value for money.

Cork Airport, which is expected to show losses of €10m in 2010, “built a terminal that was well too big for prospective traffic in Cork,” said Mr McCarthy. “Why that happened, I don’t know.”
