City’s water gets all clear after bug alert

Tests were carried out in the Bishopstown area after two children were admitted to the Bon Secours Hospital in Cork suffering from severe vomiting and diarrhoea. The children, aged eight and nine, attend the same primary school in the area. It is understood they are in the same class. One child spent at least three days in the hospital. They have been discharged and are recovering.

A spokesman for Cork City Council said they were made aware of the children’s symptoms last Friday, and following consultation with the Health Service Executive (HSE), water samples were taken from the public water supply at various locations in Bishopstown.
