Anglo probe in final stages, says garda boss

THE mammoth garda investigation into Anglo Irish Bank is entering its final stage with 90% of the investigation now completed, the Garda Commissioner has said.

Martin Callinan rejected claims from the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors that the Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation, which is conducting the Anglo probe, was being hampered by lack of resources.

Speaking at the association’s annual conference in Limerick, he said it was not his place to hurry the Director of Public Prosecutions into making a decision whether or not to bring charges.
