City in running to host top sport event

LIMERICK’S status as European City of Sport 2011 is already proving to be a major economic stimulus for the city with confirmation the city is being considered for a world championship event.

It was revealed yesterday Limerick is in the running to host the World Duathlon Championships.

The announcement follows the huge success of last weekend’s European Duathlon Championships, which saw hotels across Limerick fully booked.
