MANY motorists are placing themselves and other road users at unnecessary risk of death and serious injury by ignoring the warning signs of driver fatigue.

The AA yesterday expressed concern that some motorists were pushing themselves to complete journeys without taking a rest when overtired.

A survey of 15,700 irish drivers has revealed that young males are the most likely group to persist with driving while tired and the group least likely to take a break or a nap.
