‘Force dumpers to clean up mess’

RATHER than having fines imposed on them, offenders caught dumping illegally should be made clean up the mess they create.

The call has come from an Independent councillor who believes such a punishment “would be a deterrent and more appropriate than fines”.

Kerry-based Cllr Brendan Cronin suggested payment of fines, or contributions to court poor boxes, amounted to insufficient penalties for people that destroyed the countryside.
